We are so excited to announce our new Featured Friday series that will highlight the hard work and dedication of the Foundation Source team—so excited in fact, that we’re sharing it a day early because our office is closed this Friday. For our first employee spotlight, we sat down with Kimberly Scott, Senior Director of Client Services, and asked her about her experience at Foundation Source.

What do you love about working at Foundation Source?

There is so much to love but what I think of first is our clients, who are truly amazing! Being able to play a small role in helping them do good in the world is tremendously fulfilling. Also, I have worked with Foundation Source for almost 15 years and have formed genuine friendships with my colleagues. I work with great people and together, we do great work. It doesn’t get much better than that.

What is the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is knowing that I’m helping people do good in the world! It motivates me and cheers me through the stressful moments. Even on the most challenging days, I recognize that we are making a positive impact on the world and I don’t take that for granted.

What do you look forward to each day?

Every day is so different, but without fail there is always at least one moment that makes me say – that’s why I’m here. It could be a delighted client, a grateful charity, a resolved issue or even a colleague who needed a quick pep talk. There is always a reminder that I am here for a purpose and my daily challenge is to fulfill it.

What is your team like and what has your experience been with company culture?

The Client Services Department is filled with individuals who work hard and consistently go above and beyond for our clients and for each other. It’s a wonderfully supportive environment. It’s not always easy being in a client-facing role but it can be incredibly rewarding.

What has been your favorite project at Foundation Source?

My favorite project at Foundation Source is working with incoming clients, individuals or families who are just starting their foundations. It’s so exciting to help them get started on their philanthropic journey.

What has been your biggest accomplishment since joining Foundation Source?

My overarching goal is to help our clients enjoy their philanthropy – so any time a client expresses excitement about what they are able to do, what Foundation Source is able to help them do, it’s mission accomplished!

How have you grown professionally at Foundation Source?

Before Foundation Source, I had never managed a team before. I always worked in client-facing positions, but was never responsible for managing others, their jobs and guiding their careers. It’s an aspect of my job that I love and consider an absolute honor.

What is a memorable client experience you’ve had?

I randomly answered the phone one night after hours and it was a woman from a charity calling to confirm that the grant check she received was “legitimate”. Once I confirmed, she cried and shared how many babies her small non-profit would be able to help as a result of this unexpected gift. It was a touching moment and such a wonderful reminder of the good that we help our clients do.
