FAIRFIELD, CT—July 29, 2014—Foundation Source, the nation’s largest provider of comprehensive services for private foundations, today announced the appointment of Elizabeth A. Wong as Philanthropic Director. Based in Seattle, WA, Ms. Wong will provide high-level strategic advice and consultation to donor-led, family, and corporate foundations located on the West Coast. She joins a highly knowledgeable team of philanthropic advisors, and reports to Chief Philanthropic Officer, Page Snow.

According to Ms. Snow, “Foundation Source clients are actively engaged in their philanthropic work and want to maximize the social impact of their grantmaking and make strategic use of their available resources. To help them turn their visions into reality, donors seek the counsel of our Philanthropic Directors. With over 20 years spent working in the nonprofit sector, Elizabeth has had a wealth of experience with philanthropic entities of every size and configuration, from working with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to assisting individual donors in her role on the JP Morgan Private Bank Philanthropic Services Team.”

Since 2010, Ms. Wong has managed her own philanthropic consultancy, working with foundations and public charities in the areas of strategic planning, organizational development, governance, nonprofit management, and executive coaching.  Her clients included the Executive Office of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Global Partnership for Education, where she was senior advisor to Board Chair Carol Bellamy.

Before she established her own firm, Ms. Wong was a senior program officer at the Gates Foundation, managing a $90 million portfolio of Special Initiative and Family Interest grants. This included leading the Foundation’s global education partnership with the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation QEDC Initiative.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Wong was vice president at JP Morgan Private Bank Global Foundations Group, where she provided tailored grantmaking services to Private Bank client foundations with assets of $25 million or more. She served as a program manager at the Aspen Institute Business and Society Program, and as a program officer at the New York-based United States-Japan Foundation. She started her career as a program coordinator with the Council on Foundations in Washington, D.C., one of the preeminent membership and service organizations serving U.S. private foundations.

According to Ms. Wong, “Throughout my career, I’ve dedicated myself to helping donors achieve the greatest possible impact in their respective areas of interest. I am eager to help Foundation Source clients achieve their philanthropic objectives by providing assistance and expertise typically available to only the largest, professionally staffed foundations.”

Ms. Wong is passionate about philanthropy and the power of the social sector. Originally from San Francisco, CA, she and her family now live in Seattle, WA where she actively volunteers with her local public school district.
