In its first year, FS Charitable Fund (FSCF) has supported charitable projects across a range of missions by providing a structure to receive and administer philanthropic support. Project leaders retain responsibility for their operations, with FSCF providing charitable oversight of the funds under its sponsorship.

The Need FSCF Set Out to Address
A charitable mission often takes shape before an organization can receive and administer charitable support. Building the legal and administrative infrastructure to accept donations, acknowledge donors, and manage restricted funds takes time that many emerging projects do not have when the work is urgent.

FSCF was built to close that gap. Eligible projects access philanthropic funding through an established 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsorship structure.

A Year of Missions
In its first year, FSCF supported projects across a range of charitable purposes, including:

  • Preserving local history
  • Expanding educational opportunities
  • Advancing health and scientific research
  • Supporting arts and cultural education
  • Promoting children’s safety and well-being

Each shares one requirement: a structure through which charitable contributions can be received, administered, and directed toward approved work.

How FSCF Works
For each project under its sponsorship, FSCF provides:

  • Donation processing
  • Restricted-fund administration
  • Donor acknowledgments
  • Grants supporting approved charitable activities
  • Ongoing charitable oversight

Project leaders retain responsibility for running their own operations and reporting on how grant funds are used. That division of responsibility is the core of the model: projects access charitable support while keeping their operational independence.

“FS Charitable Fund was created to give charitable projects a dependable structure for fundraising while preserving the independence of the people leading them,” said Chief Legal Officer Jeffrey Haskell. “Our first year has brought that purpose to life across a range of domestic missions. As we enter our second year, we remain focused on providing trusted infrastructure and careful stewardship so project leaders can pursue their vision.”

A Commitment to Transparency
FS Charitable Fund has earned Candid’s Platinum Seal of Transparency and is listed in the Fiscal Sponsor Directory. These resources give project leaders, donors, and advisors additional ways to learn about FSCF and its work.

Looking Ahead
FSCF recognizes the project leaders behind these missions and the donors who support them. In the year ahead, the priority stays the same: helping eligible charitable projects access the support they need to do the work they set out to do.
