Titans. Leaders. Trailblazers. Innovators. These are some of the words used to describe the 100 people that made the TIME100 Philanthropy 2025 list. Considered the most influential people shaping the future of philanthropy, these philanthropists made the list for a variety of reasons, including:
- US private foundations that have stepped up even while under increased pressure as they navigate a rapidly changing environment.
- A new generation of donors who are doing things their own way.
- The rise of collective giving, which is a grassroots movement that allows individuals to pool resources for greater impact.
Launched 21 years ago, the annual TIME100 began with the belief that individuals have the power to change the world. In recent years, they’ve expanded the franchise into areas that are poised to significantly shape our future, including AI, Climate, Health, and now Philanthropy.
Assembled by TIME’s reporters, editors and contributors from across the globe, this project represents individuals from 28 countries. “At this pivotal moment, this list tells the stories of how generous donors and leaders of foundations and non-profits are directing funding into the communities that need it most,” said Ayesha Javed who led the project.
