FAIRFIELD CONN. — Foundation Source, the nation’s leading provider of support services for private foundations, and Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest and most-utilized charity evaluator, announced the co-development and joint release of Charity Reports, a comprehensive organizational assessment of charities exclusively available to Foundation Source clients. The new due diligence tool is designed to help get “under the covers” to establish an accurate picture of potential grantees before donations are made.
Each Charity Report will be developed by a team of experts who will gather data from financial statements, scan news media and other documents and review the responses to an in-depth questionnaire submitted to each charity analyzed. The result is a detailed examination of a charity’s financial health, accountability and effectiveness, including an overall rating of donor investment risk.
Foundation Source and Charity Navigator will introduce clients to Charity Reports via a private webinar on April 27, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. EST. Clients who wish to register for the webinar should contact Julie Harris at 203-319-3723 or .
Kenneth Berger, Charity Navigator President and CEO, said, “For some time we have wanted to develop more robust and comprehensive tools for assessing the financial health and overall effectiveness of non-profits. Through partnering with Foundation Source to develop Charity Reports, we have taken a major step toward that goal.”
Page Snow, Foundation Source Chief Philanthropic Officer, said, “We are thrilled to partner with Charity Navigator to provide Charity Reports to the family and donor-led foundations we serve. Our clients want to know that their donations are being used wisely. Charity Reports provides that assurance through analysis that creates a much more in-depth picture than any other assessment tool widely available today.”
