As you enjoy the last few weeks of summer and hopefully some well-deserved vacation time, we would like to take a moment to recognize the amazing work that our client, the ZAC Foundation for Children’s Safety, is doing to keep kids safe.

About The ZAC Foundation for Children’s Safety
The ZAC Foundation for Children’s Safety was established in 2008 by Karen and Brian Cohn, after the loss of their 6-year-old son, Zachary Archer Cohn, in a pool drain entrapment in their backyard swimming pool. Zachary’s memory is the inspiration for the foundation’s mission and activities, with a vision to create a generational change in how water safety is viewed by parents and their children.

Drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death for children ages 1-4 and the second leading cause of unintentional death for children ages 5-9, according to the Centers for Disease Control. The Foundation has partnered with programs and organizations across the country – from Austin, to Chicago, to Joint Base Andrews – to help develop and provide educational programming and resources for swimmers of all ages and abilities.

About ZAC Camp
In her podcast, Keeping Kids Safe, Karen explains that after researching water safety, they realized that minority children are drowning at three times the rate of nonminority children. This is what sparked the creation of ZAC Camp, which is designed to instruct children ages five to nine on how to stay safe in any body of water. In the last decade, the foundation has provided free swim camps for more than 20,000 kids around the country. Learn more about ZAC Camp in this podcast episode.

The ZAC Foundation for Children’s Safety has become an internationally renowned voice in the water safety field by finding unique ways to make change happen through partnerships and technology. The foundation was highlighted by the World Health Organization during its first annual World Drowning Prevention Day webinar and serves on the Steering Committee for the development of a national drowning prevention plan for the United States.
