As we continue to reflect on our 25-year anniversary, we decided to carve out time with some of our employees who have been with Foundation Source since the early days and have played a key role in helping us evolve and enhance our philanthropic software and services through the decades. In this next installment of our series, we’re excited to introduce you to Andrey Nesterov, our systems architect and chief developer. Read on to learn more about his insights and unique experience as part of our Financial Services team—and what he thinks is in store for the future of philanthropy.

Systems Architect and Chief Developer, Financial Services
What is your role?
I started as a Chief Developer and quickly became a Systems Architect for Financial Services. Most of the time, I managed an outsourced development team, which automated financial calculations and developed administrative back end for the Foundation Source team. Currently I’m a part of the Foundation Source administration team.
You’ve seen us evolve as a company. What change(s) are most striking for you?
Foundation Source has grown faster over the last few years and provided more services than ever before. I like that Foundation Source management has a vision of where we are going and where we are evolving. I think it is the key to the changes.
What do you think the next 25 years will hold for Foundation Source?
I think Foundation Source will provide more services for the philanthropy players. The company started working directly with financial institutions, where I see many opportunities, and I think we will evolve in that direction. I also see services for small self-managed foundations, starting with light software-only service and evolving to full-service Foundation Source clients. In addition, I think Foundation Source will support DAF foundations, provide services for foundation advisors who guide several foundations as well as services for charitable organizations and charitable initiatives. These will help foundations and charities find the right partners to implement their projects.
