All the professions are involved: attorneys, CPAs, trust officers, appraisers, planned giving officers, physicians—and even notaries. Knowing the rules governing the other professions can be as important as the rules applicable to yours. Simply put, not knowing your stuff is unethical for most professions. Failure to follow the ethical rules can be subject to malpractice actions, huge monetary and other sanctions by the IRS.
